Adam Hughes's homage to classic magician posters

Adam Hughes's cover to Zatanna #13 is a bit of a slapstick take on classic magician posters. You can see the rest of DC Comics' solicitations for May 2011 here.

Batwoman #2 cover/wallpaper

I took the liberty of cropping J.H. William III's Batwoman #2 cover into a widescreen wallpaper:

Here's the wallpaper I created out of his cover to issue #1.

Mike Kelley's Kandor 10

I featured Mike Kelley's Kandor exhibit back in 2009. Now it's on display at Gagosian Gallery. Via.

New DC Universe Online trailer

I'm assuming this is by Blur Studio - - watch In Lex We Trust, the latest DC Universe Online trailer. It starts a little slow, but makes up for that by featuring a futuristic Batman.

Relatedly, this is a fairly positive review for the game, especially the actual combat. It made the dual pistol character sound pretty cool, so I found a video showing off the acrobat's moves:

Link roundup

1. Lots of nice photos of the DC Universe action figures released in 2010.

2. Apparently there was no quality control for the Mickey Mouse figurine packed in with the Epic Mickey collector's set.

3. The BBTS has a preorder listing for a Heroclix game set based on the JJ Abrams Star Trek movie.

Jimmy Olsen, kaiju

At Covered, Derek Charm remakes Curt Swan's and Stan Kaye's cover to Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen # 53. There's a poster-sized version of the original in the DC Comics: The 75th Anniversary Poster Book I mentioned last month. 50% off at Amazon.

DC Comics: The 75th Anniversary Poster Book

I received a review copy of DC Comics: The 75th Anniversary Poster Book (which was already on my wish list), and wow, big thumbs up. The oversized softcover book features 100 removable images of DC comic book covers. There's plenty of iconic images, like the first appearances of Superman and Wonder Woman, and the covers to Watchmen and Kingdom Come.

But much better, it's full of deliciously ridiculous covers like these:

The book actually features 300 covers, although only 100 are poster-sized. It even includes Batman's zebra costume, and Wonder Woman's 60's get-up.

Highly recommended, even if you have no intention of removing any pages to hang. 34% off Amazon.
