New trailer for Alice: Madness Returns

Here's the third trailer for American McGee's Alice: Madness Returns (it ends fairly gory). It has a nice look, but I sure hope it's got a lot less jumping than the last game.

Concept art from the Metroid game that never was

NeoGAF:
I've found something very interesting on the website of Tony C. Giovanni - one of the Level Designers for Retro Studios during production of the Metroid Prime games.

http://sites.google.com/site/tonygio...attredirects=0

Its a proposal document for "Metroid 1.5" (working title) a rejected Metroid game set to take place between Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It seems Tony was tasked to write it up following some internal meetings at Retro, and is nearly 7000 words long. Its fascinating!
That link wasn't working when I tried it, but there's more concept art and extensive excerpts here. Via.

1. This sounds like a Pixar movie:
It feels like spring has already sprung this Valentine's Day month in California, especially at the Orange County Zoo, where a wild bald eagle has been making daily visits to the zoo's 6-year-old female bald eagle, Olivia, for more than a week.

The wild bird "frequently perches near the enclosure of Olivia...and calls back and forth with her," Marisa O'Neil, public information officer at the zoo, said in a press release.

3. I've mentioned several times how great the first half of Dead Space 2 is (if you like Alien, then you should definitely watch the Dead Space 2 playthrough), but wow, the second half of the game is terrible. The first half features an intriguing, albeit cliched plot, and one fascinating environment after another (mental hospital, zero-g high above a moon base, daycare center, gore-spattered hallways under ultraviolet light). The second half of the game is just one tedious gun battle after another against the same handful of foes in one forgettable room after another. The behavior of Ellie is so nonsensical that I was convinced (hoping) that she was a figment of Isaac's imagination, and the plot developments in the last two levels made no sense at all.

New DC Universe Online trailer

I'm assuming this is by Blur Studio - - watch In Lex We Trust, the latest DC Universe Online trailer. It starts a little slow, but makes up for that by featuring a futuristic Batman.

Relatedly, this is a fairly positive review for the game, especially the actual combat. It made the dual pistol character sound pretty cool, so I found a video showing off the acrobat's moves:

Honda Jazz commercial/iPhone app

The new campaign by Wieden + Kennedy London for the Honda Jazz is called This Unpredictable Life, and features a variety of strange creatures that fly past a wild landscape:

There's also a companion iPhone app that allows you to "catch" the creatures as the fly off the screen. Once you do catch a creature, you can play with it similar to Nintendogs:

You have to burn the rope

Alright, first, go play You Have to Burn the Rope, an absolutely delightful game. I got more enjoyment out of it then the last Zelda DS game I played.

If you're having trouble, there's an in depth manual, and here's a full walkthrough:

And probably the best end credits theme ever:

It's inspired fan videos complete with very dramatic music:

Totally bizarre commercial for The Last Story

Here's a few commercials for upcoming Wii game The Last Story. The first couple are mundane, showing lots of gameplay and movie footage. But at 1 minute in, the third commercial features live actors in bodysuits, I'm guessing they're showing off the fighting mechanics. Via these sites.
