Bride of Blackenstein

Nicki Minaj and Jesse Eisenberg in Bride of Blackenstein on Saturday Night Live. The sketch isn't particularly funny, but I liked the mock poster for The Black Creature from the Black Lagoon.

The Creature from the Black Lagoon rocks out (link roundup)

Creature from the Black Lagoon by Chris Goodwin. See also: The Lone Ranger's steed.

And a few more links:

1. Shrines to Hello Kitty and Pikachu (NSFW).

2. Charlotte's Web t-shirt (and some thought on the difficulty of copyright).

3. Some logical flaws in Avatar and the world of Pandora. (I've been watching it on DVD, which really hammers home what a waste of money 3D is - - it's just as good on a regular television.)

Cute Creature from the Black Lagoon (link roundup)

Creature from the Black Lagoon by Jimmy Pickering. It's one of several creatures that will be on display at the upcoming skellyopolis show.

And a few more links:

1. One defense of the TSA's security procedures: forcing terrorists to try something new makes them try something they haven't perfected. (Like shoe bombs, or thigh incendiaries.)

2. How CNN (and other media outlets) get away with paying for exclusive interviews, while claiming that they don't pay for interviews.

War of the Colossal Freaks of Frankenstein's Planet poster (and more)

War of the Colossal Freaks of Frankenstein's Planet and Beach Blanket Beastie posters by James Groman. Both are on sale here, signed, for $15.

The explanations are pretty funny. Frankenstein's Planet is "for a fictional (or is it?) 1969 science fiction movie starring Clint Eastwood and directed by the legendary Sergio Leone." The Beastie is also for a fictional movie and was originally used for a resin kit Groman created:

Boxing tentacle monster genie

It's a boxing tentacle monster genie vs. a Prussian (?) Creature from the Black Lagoon for a lovely lady in this art by Johnny Sampson for the cover and insert to an upcoming album by King Khan and BBQ. Visit Johnny's site for more wonderful work including a cowboys vs. indians vs. alien concert poster, a truly strange witch's brew, and a goofy reworking of classic G.I. Joe vehicles. Via.
