$50 Design Museum

A few years back, I.D. Magazine ran a great feature, asking various designers to put together design museums using only $50. (The feature doesn't seem to be available online.)

Here's my museum, heavy on graphic design:

Sandow Birk's In Smog and Thunder: Historical Works from the Great War of the Californias [$25]

The Publisher writes:
What if the rivalry between San Francisco and Los Angeles erupted into civil war? Drawing on images and icons of contemporary culture as well as European and Latin American art history, Sandow Birk's paintings reflect a meditation on cultural identity, nationality, and history. The book comes with a CD of songs from this imagined war and features 16 pages of new posters.

Antipodes Water [approximately $3.25 a bottle]

The press release says:
The water comes from a deep 500 – 1000ft deep pressured aquifer and has a residency of about 50 years while filtering through a sub strata of ignimbrite. The area of recharge for the aquifer is the Rotoma Hills, which has a historically low human population density, less than 1 person per 250 acre, with no commercial or industrial activity. Antipodes mineral water is bottled at the source in Otakiri, Bay of Plenty.

Super Lemon Candy 2.64 Oz [$2.99 a bag]

Promethea Covers Book [$5.95] You can see all the covers here. And here's a list of artists that inspired the covers.

Star Wars Titanium Republic Gunship [$5]

Can You See What I See? Seymour and the Juice Box Boat [$4.99]
