At first, the premise for "Curl Girls" sounds like a '70s B-movie: a whole show about the lives and loves of lesbian surfers.
But these girls can shred.
The reality show, slated to debut later this month on Logo, MTV's sister channel devoted to gay programming, follows a group of L.A. surfer grrrrls, who glide elegantly through the surf and then in and out of each other's private lives.
"It's simply about this group of women who are competing against each other and the relationships they form," says Logo general manager Lisa Sherman.
The new show begins on June 18.
"Curl Girls" began as a special that first aired last fall on Logo. After the special was posted on iTunes, AOL and Logo's on Demand channel, it became the network's most downloaded program ever.
The breakout star of the original film, Erin, is a pretty, gun-toting prosecutor for the California State Attorney General's office who is eventually chosen to anchor an all-girls' surf team sponsored by a female-centric surf shop.
