Los Angeles to require Home Depot to build shelters for day laborers

The new ordinance will require home improvement stores like Home Depot to provide day-labor centers with shelter, drinking water, bathrooms and trash cans. I don't know if day laborers are common in other cities, but in Los Angeles, people congregate in front of most paint stores and large hardware stores hoping to find a manual labor job for the day. And I don't mean just one or two people. In the morning, it's common to see dozens of men standing on the sidewalk, waiting for work.

It's certainly an interesting law, I can't imagine it's very popular with any large group of voters. Link to article.
