Never talks yourself out of entering merit-based contests

This video won the Bioshock 2 Vid-Cap Contest, and thus its creator will receive $5,000 and a working Subject Delta Big Daddy Suit. Am I simply missing out on what makes it special, or is this such a stunningly bad pick that it calls into question the legitimacy of the contest?
