Hello Kitty/Gloomy Bear mashup (link roundup)

If this is an April Fool's joke, it sure is thorough - - go here to see a whole bunch of Hello Kitty as a Gloomy Bear merchandise.

And a few more links:

1. Blizzard's April Fool's jokes included the Archivist character for Diablo 3 (he defeats monsters with his librarian like powers, including the devastating "shush" ability). Via.

2. Bizarre Wizard of Oz board game?

3. Pirates of the Caribbean/Where the Wild Things Are mashup.

4. Confused double decker bus. Via.

Doom meets Diablo

If Doom was a Diablo-style RPG, you'd have Doom: Fall of Mars. You can download an early build here. And here's video of it in action:

Rainbow-farting unicorns and the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man (link roundup)

Alas, these images of a rainbow-farting unicorn and the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man are jokes. The characters will apparently not be in Diablo III. Via these sites.

And a few more links:

1. Pepsi essentially bought a skit on Saturday Night Live on Saturday. The skit ran during the commercials, but otherwise seemed to be a skit. There's analysis/praise of the deal at Saatchi and Saatchi's blog.

2. Terrorists are motivated by Godzilla and Van Damme. Honest. Via.

3. The maker of the portal gun shows how he made a life-size version of Link's Master Sword. Relatedly, I like this drawing of a sword.

4. This won't be held up as a good argument for saving old media: The Wall Street Journal apparently was told three years ago that Madoff was crooked and decided not to investigate. Via.

Rather than a bunch of money being used to save old media, I'd rather see money used to create a sort of libel insurance. So that citizen journalists could report and have the comfort of a retained lawyer if someone tried a harassment libel suit to silence them.
