The Mandalorian Guernica

Picasso's Guernica (A painting I never cared for):

Picasso's depiction of the Mandalorian War against the Old Republic Jedi (courtesy of this week's episode of Clone Wars):

The episode also featured a cubist painting of Duchess Satine Kryze, the Queen Amidala clone/ruler of Mandalore (I don't know whether it's an homage to a specific painting):

Comic book-style ad, costume

Ad by Grabarz & Partner emphasizes the Volkswagen Golf's speed.

Which gives me a good excuse to be the last blogger to post these photos of a woman turned into a Lichtenstein through the magic of MAC Cosmetics. See more photos of the application process here.

If Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali, and C.M. Coolidge drew Wolverine

Yesterday, I posted Skottie Young's drawing of Wolverine in the style of Edward Gorey.

There were several more artistic interpretations of Wolverine revealed today, including:

Wolverine by Rene Magritte by Jason Chan.

Wolverines playing poker by C.M. Coolidge by Paolo Rivera.

Surreal Wolverine by Salvador Dali by Rivera.

You can see a few more Wolverine Masterpieces here. And you can see Rivera posing as Helen of Troy here (honest). Via.

Tarsem makes Gatorade's new identity seem not so lame

If Kevin Garnett had starred in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, it might have gone something like this:

It's called The Quest for G and is part of Gatorade's new marketing effort. (Presumably someone concluded that people were more likely to buy sugar water if it was called "G.") The ad is by TBWA/Chiat/Day and was directed by Tarsem. Relatedly, here's a list of Tarsem's music videos. Via.

McCain and Obama, if they were drawn by Roger Hargreaves

Roger Hargreaves created the Mr. Men and Little Miss series, which has sold over 100 million copies.

Nate Wragg mimicked Hargreaves' style to create these caricatures of John McCain and Barack Obama:
