A treasure trove of Robotech 3 concept art

Roger Harkavy stumbled upon envelopes containing over a hundred pages of concept art from MOSPEADA, or as I always thought of it - - the third Robotech tv series. Below are a few highlights, including the motorcycle that morphed into battle armor, and the original samurai-esque look of the mecha:

New toys on sale at the Big Bad Toy Store

Two new toys available for preorder at the Big Bad Toy Store:

Coraline's Doll. A rather twisted gift to give to a child, in light of its purpose in the movie. FAO Schwarz should offer custom Coraline dolls this year, the same way it offered custom Muppets last.

Macross VF100`s VF-25S Messiah Valkyrie.

Sale at Hero Design Studio (link roundup)

Three concert posters for $25 at Hero Design Studio.

And a few more links:

1. Over at Evil Buttons, I posted Coraline desktop wallpapers, featuring ghosts and Coraline's father.

2. New Transformer sure looks like an evil Wall-E.

3. Today, February 7, 2009, was to be the launch day of the SDF-1 Macross.

4. A blog devoted to the tattoos of Wieden + Kennedy employees.

Macross Gashapon

This set of Macross miniatures is officially the Yamato 1/200 Valkyrie Fighter Collection 1 Gashapon. There's a lengthy review and lots of photos here. I found one set for sale at eBay, and also found one Collection 2 set on sale. They're awfully expensive. For a fraction of the price, the same seller is selling the highly posable Revoltech Macross Plus mechs with free shipping.

And speaking of Japanese toys, check out the coolest unicycle ever:

You can see lots more photos of the Spiral Zone Act 10: Monoseed type III here.

Macross Valkyrie with terrific paintjob

Found here amongst a whole bunch of photos of Macross/Robotech toys. (Is there a specific term for the snarling mouth paint job?)

Thanks to Destoo, here's a bit more on "Nose Art." Wikipedia says:
The first recorded piece of nose art was a sea monster painted on the nose of an Italian flying boat in 1913. This was followed by the popular tradition of painting mouths underneath the propeller spinner, initiated by the German pilots in World War I, and exemplified by the cavallino of Francesco Baracca. After these beginnings, though, most nose art was conceived and produced by the aircraft ground crews, not the pilots.

And here's a patent for a shark-shaped nose for aircraft.

Wearable motorcycle design

My Robotech fantasies just might come true? I refuse to click on the link to see what the design actually looks like. Story via Slashdot. "Mospeada Ride Armor VR-052F" photo (or as I like to think of it, the "totally awesome motorcycle from the third Robotech series") found at CollectionDX.

Toy: Robotech Battle Pods

Also known as Macross Regult. The toy by Revoltech is available for preorder here. Via.
