Skateboarding in a spaceship

Nike's new shoe for skateboarder Omar Salazar is filled with space age materials, so they also created an appropriately futuristic half-pipe. You can see video of Oamr in action, download desktop wallpapers, and check out the shoes here. Via.

G.I. Joe Accelerator Suit, a half pipe, and some terrible special effects

In this viral ad for G.I. Joe, a guy in a Delta 6 accelerator suit does some extreme tricks on half pipe. Unfortunately, the accelerator suits are ridiculously lame, and the animation is distractingly jerky. Via.

For a skateboarding ad that actually makes the brand look cool, check out this ad for Nike starring Ice Cube and P. Rod:

Skateboard deck by Doublenaut for the disposable art show in Toronto. Underneath the bomb is a collage made from old war time ads from the 1940’s. Here's the Doublenaut shop.

And a few more links:

1. 31-year-old Lila Rose goes undercover at Planned Parenthood clinics, tells the workers that she's 13 and was was impregnated by a 31-year-old, secretly films the encounters, and then posts them on YouTube. Her hope (and the hope of her backers, who she apparently doesn't want to discuss) is that by showing the counselors do not report the apparent statutory rapes to the authorities (as required), she will undermine the concept of legalized abortion. You can read about it here and watch videos here.

2. Porcelain jellyfish.

3. Here's the short ads for Flash Forward that aired during Lost.

4. A handy overview of copyright, specifically as it applies to puppets.

This Vision Gator design was my favorite back when I had a Thrasher subscription. Here's the RetroSkateStickers main page. There's also a store that's stunningly slow loading. (The Gator swirl sticker is $65!) Via.

Just last weekend I rewatched Stacy Peralta's excellent documentary on the LA skateboarding scene, "Dogtown and Z-Boys." Highly recommended, even if you don't typically care for skateboarding or documentaries.
