Two more entries for this month's art contest, which has a huge prize:

Calvin and Hobbes meets Masters of the Universe by Steven Anderson. (Someone should start writing this comic strip now.) It and several other clever designs are available in Steven's webstore.

Spaceman Spiff by M.S. Corley. (He also recently posted a series of historical figures as b-movie monsters.)

He-Man faces a hostage situation (link roundup)

He-Man faces a hostage situation in this image by Stjepan Šejić. High-res at the link. Via.

And a few more links:

1. Remind me again why we need to save old newspapers? The Seattle Post-Intelligencer just wants to fill its website with pet and fashion photos. (Worth clicking through to see a reporter dressed as the Seattle P-I mascot.) Via.

2. Disturbing scarecrow, perhaps?

3. Melissa Sue Stanley does a good job summing up my feeling about Twitter, "i dunno about twitter. but i'll try anything i suppose. i do like deleting online social networking profiles, so at least i have that to look forward to soon."

4. Concept art for Michael Lau x MINDstyle's The Godfather "Marionette" vinyl toy.

3. Cute Spider-Man drawing.

4. Funny Bizarro strip about an investment banker feeling guilty.

Masters of the Universe Attack Squid

Clearly I did not adequately appreciate the genius of the Masters of the Universe toys when they were new to stores. I present the Masters of the Universe Attack Squid, Spitbull, and War Whale.

Attack Squid available at eBay.

Spitbull available at eBay.

War Whale available at eBay.

Big Jim - - the toy line that was recycled by Mattel for Masters of the Universe figures

Here's Trap Jaw, a Masters of the Universe action figure every child of the 80's should be familiar with:

And here's Big Jim character Iron Jaw, from a toy line that came out in 1971:

Man-E-Faces, who I thought was so cool - - what the hell was I thinking?

Big Jim figures Zorak and Vektor

Many more examples here. Via.

There's actually a bunch of Big Jim figures on sale at eBay, including the evil Zorak.
