Link roundup

1. A whole lot of Supermans at Burning Man.

2. It seemed like ESPN's NFL coverage on Monday morning was 90% "Albert Haynesworth's refusal to participate in a defensive huddle the sideline shows he's checked out on the team." Turns out defensive linemen like Haynesworth weren't supposed to be in that huddle.

3. Great term for office wear - - move over "business casual," here's "business sexual."

Lady Midakko and Pennagolan (link roundup)

As I understand it, this is a Lady Midakko and Pennagolan miniature, painted by Sébastien Picque, from the game Okko. Japanese demons are the coolest. Via.

And a few more links:

1. And here I was so looking forward to football coverage - - John Clayton apparently does not have a pony tail. Thanks, Phil.

2. Don't mess with this Little Red Riding Hood.

3. Arakune paper toy (from BlazBlue).

Wonderland travel poster (link roundup)

Wonderland travel poster by Mario Graciotti. See more fantasy land travel posters at the link.

And a few more links:

1. Interview on Reddit with an anonymous ESPN employee. My favorite exchange:

Does John Clayton's ponytail look ridiculous?

eyespian
No one has ever seen it, but it is talked about. I used to work his remote cameras (he does his hits from his house) and never have seen any evidence of one! It seems to be an urban legend.

iiviip3
I have seen it in person and it is quite long, perhaps to the shoulder blade region. I hadn't heard any rumors about any such ponytail before either so it took me by surprise. I have to say, John Clayton is just a weird looking guy in general!

This occurred at a funeral service last year for Mike Kahn, a longtime friend of Mr. Clayton's whom I had the pleasure of working with.
Via. UPDATE: Apparently, it's not true.

2. Great news if you live in LA - - Rick Bayless is opening a restaurant on Melrose. Via.

3. Braised Brussels Sprouts with Bacon, Golden Raisins and Pasta recipe.

Windows 7 Whopper (link roundup)

Microsoft is promoting Windows 7 in Japan with the Windows 7 Whopper at Burger King. Via these sites.

And a few more links:

1. In case you missed it, wild claims of sexual improprieties by Steve Philips and other ESPN employees.

2. You can now play Bioware's free webgame Dragon Age Journeys. (I lost interest almost immediately.)

3. Corey Lewis' version of Longshot in Strange Tales #3 looks pretty good.

For the latest on Steve McNair...

For the latest on Steve McNair's death, including very specific details about who died, and why, check out Pro Football Talk. It's comical how pathetic ESPN's coverage was this afternoon - - they mostly just kept replaying Samari Rolle's assertion that McNair was "such a good family man." Something tells me that line won't be repeated too much tomorrow.

And in other fun football news, former University of Hawaii star Timmy Chang was arrested for robbery for his role in a drunken brawl.

Letter beads desktop wallpaper (link roundup)

Letter beads desktop wallpaper available here. Via.

And a few more links:

1. ESPN hosted an online chat with Jared, of Subway commercial fame. The questions all had to be provided by a plant, right?

2. Taco Bell colored the water dispenser button black and put up a sign falsely saying the dispenser did not provide water.

3. Road construction signs hacked to warn of zombie invasion. Video here.

4. Forget any global warming scares you might hear from the White House. Obama keeps the thermostat so high you could "grow orchids" in winter. Via.

Woman emails photos of herself in bikini to ESPN's Rich Eisen (and his wife)

This is actually a month old, but new to me so:
Suzy Shuster, a sideline reporter for ABC's college football broadcasts, hit the roof when she discovered seven e-mails and several bikini photos sent by Lane - who works for CBS affiliate WKYW-TV and is recently divorced - to an account she and her husband, Eisen, share. That had Shuster firing off to Lane a scathing letter, a copy of which was obtained by Page Six.

A seething Shuster wrote: "Boy, do you look amazing in a bikini . . . congrats! Whatever you're doing, (Pilates? yoga?) keep doing it - it's working for you. Anyway, sorry but those seven e-mails you sent to my husband, Rich, well, oops, they came to the e-mail address we both use from time to time, but no worries, I'll forward the beach shots as well as the ones of you dancing with your friends on to his main address. Do you have it?"
