New Neatorama monster and robot by Joe Alterio.

New and improved Robots and Monsters site

As I've mentioned many times in the past, I'm a big fan of Joe Alterio's Robots and Monsters site, where you can commission any sort of wild robot or monster drawing you can think of. Up until now, he's drawn the creatures himself, but today he announced that several additional artists will be available for commissions. The group is like a who's who of my favorite artists and I think I've featured each of them in the past, with two exceptions. So, let me remedy that by mentioning those two:

Business cards by David Huyck.

Many-armed barbarian by Robin Ator.

So, if you're interested in a victorian werewolf detective, or a fire-fighting futuristic robot, head over and commission something now. There's also desktop wallpapers and icons at the link.

Toycutter has a new logo

I've mentioned Joe Alterio's work many times before, and strongly encourage you to commission one of his terrific Robots and Monsters. He designed a new logo for my custom toy site, Toycutter. The logo's available on various merchandise over at Zazzle, where I made the items as cheap as Zazzle would let me.

If you've never used Zazzle before, please note that you can change the color and style of the merchandise, choosing amongst various t-shirts, tanks, and sweatshirts.

And while I'm talking about my toy site, here's some recent posts:

1. Earthworm Jim Lego minifig.

2. Heavily tattooed Yakuza Munny.

3. Master Chief Munny.

4. Move over Mr. Potatohead, here's a custom lightbulb toy.

*Find a huge selection of toys at the Big Bad Toy Store.

Vintage news report from 1970 features footage of Dr. Manhattan in action (link roundup)

Vintage news report from 1970 features a short retrospective on Dr. Manhattan's career to date. I wonder if there will be similar films for the other characters.

And a few more links:

1. Brandon Bird has created Law and Order-themed Valentines, as well as a Guernica/G.I. Joe mashup. (Guernica's on my list of classics that suck.)

2. Bryan Lee O'Malley draws Shadowcat.

3. Joe Alterio has created a comic for the upcoming BLDGBlog book depicting London as an "archipelago of flood walls and fortresses."

4. Ad encourages you to say "F** you Earth" by buying plastic cups.

Trash collecting robot of the future

To further commemorate my oldest boy's trash truck obsession, I asked Joe Alterio to draw me a "futuristic, trash, collector." Here's what he came up with:

Joe Alterio is taking robot and monster commissions

Last year, in exchange for a charitable donation, Joe Alterio created this for me (I said I wanted something based on the words "super punch little"):

He's once again taking commissions. $50 will get you a custom-drawn and painted robot or monster, and by ordering a commission, you'll be supporting The Electronic Frontier Foundation, which "is at the forefront of protecting citizens rights in digital media." Go here to place an order. There's also a t-shirt and poster available.
