Nightmare illustrated by Patricio Oliver

Patricio Oliver illustrated a dream for the 200 Suenos Ilustrados project I've previously mentioned:
I dreamed that I had an adopted sister, she was a demon but I didn't know it. She made my life miserable. Until the day that she was turning into a demon in the room, and my parents saw her. And we lived happily ever after.

My family's brush with that scary dream guy

There's a good chance that you've already heard about the website dedicated to the reported phenomena of a creepy monobrowed man haunting people's dreams.

Upon seeing the site, my younger brother reminded me of the nightmares he used to have. He would report of having dreamed of Bert from Sesame Street:

But upon seeing the scary dream guy, he says that man looks like the person he dreamed about. (Which is particularly interesting since the site is just a hoax.)

Fringe and Dreamscape

Reading Annalee Newitz's excellent description of this week's episode of Fringe (which you can watch below) reminded me of one of my favorite movies - - Dreamscape.

I was just trying to verify that the movie really was called "Dreamscape" when I stumbled upon the poster, which I'd never seen before:

It looks so much like the Indiana Jones posters, I thought someone had made a mistake. But no, that's the poster for Dreamscape. Was the plan to trick people into thinking they were seeing another Indiana Jones movie?

DX Astro Mutan (and link roundup)

This expensive little fellow is called "DX Astro Mutan (Animation Ver)" and is on sale for $126 here.

Here's a few more random links:

1. Greg Packer, the man the media loves to cite as regular joe, has struck again. This time, he showed up at a temple on Long Island and commented on the Mumbai attacks:
"This is not just a Jewish thing," Packer said. "The terrorists didn't just kill Jews in Mumbai. Many people were targeted and killed. Yes, the Jews have always been targets. We have to continue to be vigilant and watch our backs. But when something like this happens, we are all one people."

2. News article applauds Criss Angel's PR stunt to give toys to needy kids, features three photos of Angel and his girlfriend, omits any photo of needy children.

3. Author describes the amusingly bizarre vision he had when his heart stopped beating for several minutes. Via.

4. What Jon Bon Jovi says in his preconcert prayer. An excerpt:
so I'm just sayin' I appreciate your making kick-ass lead guitar a priority in '83. You didn't have to do that, but you did. And you didn't stop there—you focused on filling out my lineup with a bassist, a drummer, and a keyboardist, and even went further by re-answering my prayers and sending another bassist to get us through the departure of our original bassist, and I appreciate that as well. As I've told you in prior preshow prayer circles, he was fired because his playing became unsatisfactory in live situations after we got famous. That's all I'm going to say about that, as I think you know what the real story is there and you have the power to guide him through it.

Smuggle alcohol into an event using the "Beerbelly" and" Winerack"

In an article for The Atlantic, Jeffrey Goldberg, describes various ways he managed to defeat airport security in the US. At one point, he was subjected to "secondary inspection" while he was secretly wearing a neoprene "Beerbelly" filled with beer under his shirt. The "investigator" didn't notice it. In the photos above, you can see the Beerbelly and Winerack in action.

Here's a few other headlines:
