Go Gnolls

Gnolls t-shirt by Lee Bretschneider. Wikipedia says:
In the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game, gnolls greatly resemble humanoid hyenas.
Preorder it to get a free print of your choice.

He also now has on sale postcards featuring the dieheads I previously posted:

Link roundup

1. New book features "an absurd comedy about a group of adventurers (elf, halfling, bard, dwarf, assassin, thief) going through an existential crisis after having discovered that they are really just pre-rolled characters living inside of a classic AD&D role playing game." (Probably NSFW.)

2. Here's what the latest batch of kidrobot's Dunnys look like.

Rocky II poster (link roundup)

Rocky II poster spotted here.

And a few more links:

1. Above the Law is running a serialized murder mystery. Here's one of the early, funny lines:
He reached his sparsely furnished cell in the law offices of MakoProphet, a D.C. appellate boutique, and turned on his +6 vorpal laptop. Tyler had a tendency to let his imagination wander. He scored high on Intelligence and Dexterity, but less so on Strength and Charisma.
2. Funny photo of Bill Simmons.

Highlights from Rivet Gallery 80's Cartoons art show

A few of my favorites from Rivet Gallery's new show "We'll Be Right Back... After These Messages." You can see all of the artwork here. Links below are to the artists' personal sites:

Masters of the Universe class photo by Chris Lee.

Tiamat, Thundarr, He-Man, and Voltron by Scott Campbell. You know, speaking of the old Dungeons and Dragons cartoon, I highly recommend this post by Mark Evanier about his script-writing for the show. It's eye-opening to hear him describe how he was forced to insert the following theme into every episode: The group is always right...the complainer is always wrong.

M.A.S.K. by Clinton Reno.

Danger Mouse by Daniel Elson.

Rainbow Brite by Shannon Bonatakis.

Plush Steve Jobs (link roundup)

Plush Steve Jobs on sale here.

And a few more links:

1. I haven't tried it yet - - but here's a guide to putting on duvet covers.

2. Rolling Stone has a fascinating interview with Sean Penn. For example, he talks about his childhood friends:
One lived in Hawaii, came home to Malibu to visit — this is later, in his mid-20s — intentionally ran over somebody with his car, got out of the car, stripped naked and started screaming about God. That was one of them. One guy we surfed with, we used to go to Zuma Beach in the morning before junior high school. We took a bunch of quaaludes before we went out surfing, and he just drifted off into the ocean, and nobody ever found him. Another guy I surfed and played Little League with, he was dealing and doing blow and shot himself off the edge of a cliff in a car. Another guy killed his mother. Another guy I was in jail with, actually — I think he's dead now.
3. Official Dungeons and Dragons character based on the clever work of Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik. They're at their best when they're trying to be lame.

Warning about blind box toys (link roundup)

The Kidrobot store in Miami wants everyone to know that they lowered the price on Jon Burgerman's "Heroes of Burgertown Mini Figures" to $5.95 each. Don't fall for it. It's the worst type of blind box set. Imagine if you spent $6 and got stuck with this:

I can't believe Kidrobot allowed it. I highly recommend you pay a few extra bucks and shop at Tenacious Toys, which sells identified blind box toys. TT also recently unveiled a brand new and much improved store website.

And a few more links:

1. There's still time to try to win a Faded Line Clothing Co. t-shirt.

2. The first episode of the second season of the Penny Arcade guys playing Dungeons and Dragons has been posted. I haven't listened to it yet, but the first season was hilarious, and I've never played D&D. And this time they have special guest stars.

3. Another interview with moot of 4chan. He kept his involvement with the site a secret from almost everyone he knew for nearly five years. Relatedly, here's discussion of possible ways to make money on the site. Via.

And a few more links:

1. Photos from an upcoming episode of Dinner Impossible that will feature a meal at Yahoo. With Robert Irvine!

2. Rolling Stone explores the dark side of female teachers sleeping with high school guys. Here's a truly creepy line:
"Thanks," Ms. Tapp said with a slow, amused smile. She was slim, blond and sporty, in khakis and a blue-striped rugby shirt. Jason remembers thinking that it looked like the shirt Steve always wore on Blue's Clues.
